T.N. Tatem Middle School

Principal’s Message

principal-tn-tatemT.N. Tatem Middle School believes in its mission in providing a comprehensive, quality education which caters to the diverse learning styles of its early adolescents, creating lifelong learners and exemplary members of the global community.

Based on this mission, we envision and believe that our students will depart from T.N. Tatem fully equipped with a high level of vocabulary and comprehension skills, high level of mathematical skills, effective communicators, both orally and written, great problem solvers through their critical thinking skills and to be socially responsible citizens; giving to their community and making right choices in life.

Our vision and beliefs have not altered much from the original school vision and beliefs of the founding principal, Mr. Thomas Neville Tatem who developed a school culture of caring, unity, enthusiasm, creativity, spirit and pride and quest for excellence.

Being reflective, there have been numerous dedicated and committed individuals who have sacrificed so much of their time and expertise to provide opportunities for our students to experience success. Booker T. Washington stated, “I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which one has overcome while trying to succeed. Many parents, teachers, students, and school faculty have all worked together in a collaborative effort to build up our school community to overcome obstacles in being successful.

As I look to the future, it is my goal to continue to build on the successes we have had at T.N. Tatem. I look forward to working with the community and all stakeholders in improving the foundation that has been laid. I am committed to working together to create a safe and harmonious environment, and to provide educational opportunities and support where students are able to achieve their educational goals and potential.

Last, but not least, I look forward to instilling a new perspective of “teaching and learning” to our school community. “Teaching and learning” must be about a principle that would take our students beyond the accolades of academic success, which we do celebrate and applaud. We should be teaching unconditional love for mankind and students must learn to love and to give unconditionally to make this world a better place. Love your God, love your family and those around you and love yourself enough to become the wonderful person God created – ALL the rest will follow!
